The first flag raising in SRJC
The first activity we experienced is the flag raising. I really appreciate that. I have been to Singapore for over 5 months and that is the first time for me to hear the national song. I think the national song of one country represents the core spirit of the country. It is slow, peaceful, full of emotion, and positive. It is in Malay. That reminded me of the flag raising in China, when all the students standing firmly in the cool, dry air in the rising sun, when the student suddenly throw up the flag to make it open up in the exciting prelude of the national song. I will never forget that scene, and never forget the spirit of China. However, I also respect other countries' culture. I did not move when watching the flag rising. I think today's overseas Chinese should continue learning Chinese culture and respect other cultures.
