BBQ with SRJC friends

Last Sunday, we organized a BBQ with our SRJC buddies near Labrador Sea. But my buddy and I were late for the BBQ. When I arrived ar the place, my buddy told me that the girl beside her said a careless person lost his handphone when playing. How careless that person is!  You can never be careful enough when going out! When we arrived, our friends had already enjoyed  themselves for some time. I saw some chicken wings and meet balls on the grill. It smelled really delicious. 'Oh, it's dainty! I want one!' Hearing this, my friend gave me two meat balls and i shared with my buddies. After a while, my leader took out a corn cob. I loved corn cob very much! It was covered by a layer of tinfoil. Some parts of the corn cob were parched, which made the corn cob looked more appealing. And dainty smells filled my nose, attracted me to have a bite on it. 'Who want this?' 'ME!' I cannot wait to have it! The corn cob was really delicious that i wanted to have more.
After having some food, i suggested to grill an apple. I took an apple out of the bag and a boy stick a bamboo skewer into the apple. Then we brushed the apple with plenty of oil, put it on the grill table. Fire combusted  on the apple because of the oil. Soon after, bamboo skewer broke and the apple fell on the grill table. We stick another bamboo skewer to the apple and decided to ask somebody to try it. Finally, our leader tried a piece and spitted it cause it was really awful.
Some black clouds floated in the sky when we were talking, and it became dark. We decided to finish the BBQ and go back to hostel. After tidying the place, we took a photo together and went back. It began to rain as soon as we arrived the hostel. How lucky we were!
It was really a happy BBQ, wish to have more later~

BBQ at Labrador Park

Last Sunday we had a barbecue with our buddies. It was really fun and we had lots of delicious food. Labrador Park is really a nice place for barbecue as we can enjoy our food while sitting near sea feeling sea wind. It was really nice we could see our buddies again. I hope we can be friends forever.

Last day in JC

One week was really a short time. I had to say goodbye to my friends.
On Friday, JC students have an hour extra for exercise. I attended the first real PE lesson in JC. I have to say PE is really exhausting not only for me but also for local students. PE was really strict because local students have a serie of physical exams for graduation including 2.4 km running. Although I go jogging almost everyday, I found I could hardly reach the standard. Singaporeans can have healthy body through PE lessons.
After school I had lunch with my classmates. It was really hard to say goodbye. I will miss them.

Unforgettable experience in SRJC

The experience in SRJC was really great. I made many new local friends here. My buddy, Matthias, was really kind to me and all his classmates were amicable. By entering JC classes, I came to know a lot about Singapore education system. I saw local students how to work and study.  I noticed local students are good at group works. For the first time, I felt school pressure on local students.
Thanks to SRJC for taking care of us.

Unforgettable BBQ

This weekend we went on a barbecue with our buddies from SRJC. We set up our equipment at Labrador Nature Reserve--near the sea. Many buddies came and we spent the happy time of the afternoon together eating and talking. The weather was really good and we were all engaged by the delicious food we grilled.
After the BBQ, we said good bye to our buddies. I really enjoyed the afternoon and it was an unforgettable experience. I hope we can still hang out with our buddies in the future.

My experience in SRJC

After a few days' study in SRJC, i found it different from what i've thought. Students in JC are also stressful. Above all, they also have to get up at as early as five to six o'clock in the morning.
Look at the picture on the right, it was taken in the morning when we arrived. The moon was still shining in the sky and the light was still on. But when we reached the center area, there were some students studying diligently.

What's more, my classmates worked really hard. All of them listened to the teacher carefully at class. But students in JC don't have to stand up and answer teacher's questions. They are also more relaxed in the class.

I experienced a PE class in SRJC. At first, i was afraid to run 2400 metres because it sounded really horrible. But when i heard that there was no need to run so long I felt released and happy! We ran one round as a warm-up. After measuring weight and height, we began training. It was just like play games. We did some practice and played some small games. The funny PE class ended in our laughter. What a happy experience!

Five days' study is really short. In SRJC, i have found some local friends and known more about local students' life. And all of my friends from NTU decided to BBQ with our buddies next week. I am really looking forward to that!

My experience in SRJC

I really appreciate the experience in JC. I knew much more about Singapore education system and the most important thing is that I get in touch with more friendly Singaporeans. I began to know more about the character and lifestyle of local Singaporeans. I enjoyed a good relationship with my buddy as well as his classmates. We had a good time together and enjoyed a lot of jokes. I also shared the Chinese culture with my buddy. He was very shocked that Chinese middle school students had to get up so early and go back home so late. At the same time, he also admired the knowledge we have equipped. Sometimes I also help him with the problem he could not handle. He also learned some Chinese ways to handle the problems. In some days after school, we took MRT together and learned about the culture differences. I am also surprised the things we learned in primary school are so different. I think at first, the students are quite relaxed in Singapore, but very stressed in JC and their college. While Chinese students seem like to have a very relaxed life after they entered the university. I think we should just neutralize the two extremes and that will be good for the students.

JC is over unwittingly

This Friday is the last day of my JC experiment. The JC experiment of one week is going to be over unwittingly. It is really sad for all of us. On Friday, at the end of the last class, my classmates hold my hands. I can feel they are sentimental at that time. We have a phototaking together. Every one greeted me with kind farewell. ... My buddy took me a billiard club. We play happily and laugh heartily. In the evening, my classmates and i send messages to each other. We keep in touch. They said in march, they will have a class outing, once the date and site are finalized, they will let me know. I hope to go along with them since they are happy with each other!!! One week is really precious to me!
Take care all of you!!
Looking forward to next meeting!!

my favorite day in SRJC

One reason is that I had PE class that day. I run 1.2km and did 31 set-ups. Since I came to Singapore, I seldom do exercise, so this time is a big challenge for me but I am very glad that I did it successfully. The other reason is that my buddy Soo Yee and I talked a lot about our habits, and then we found that we have the same interests, which are singing and watching TV drama.  She likes Yang Mi While I like Li Minghao. I shared a video of my performance when I was singing a song in the celebration, the song is from her favorite band—Su Da Lv. We both felt very delightful. After that, we exchanged our gifts. I made a photo frame for her and she bought a cute notebook for me, I like it very much. I also bought bookmarks for other friends, cause they are all very nice to me.
JC immersion has finished, I will miss my friends and SRJC very much.

Farewell, my indelible time in SRJC!

I have been experiencing the life of a SRJCian for five days. During the jolly period, I struck up close friendships with the students from class 1SR20, especially with my buddy and his several friends.
I picked up the feeling that I experienced during my senior high when we had lunch together, when we rushed for lecture theatre and stole to our seats, and when we were talking and laughing during breaks.
I attended every lesson with my buddy. I even took the floor several times. Those were unnerving but impressive moments. I practiced my English a lot because I wrongly assumed that my buddy is not good at speaking Chinese. However, thanks to that I feel much less awkward talking to local Singaporeans in English.I obtained not only the impression of JC life but also knowledge and progress in English during the JXP. How intensely I hope that my JXP would last longer enough to leave me more memory!

Farewell, 1SR09!

This is the last day at SRJC. When the bell of the last class rang, I sat on my chair and didn't want to leave. I hoped to stay here longer and spend more time with you because 5-day time is really short. I took pictures of with my buddy, with my class and of the school to commemorate this unforgettable time.
Thanks to my buddy Youjun! Just as what Hyelim said, you are such a cute girl. I think we can be good friends longer, see you next week in the BBQ, and also hope to see you in NTU. Thanks to 1SR09, farewell!

The Student Council in SRJC

At the last afternoon of our JXP, my buddy brought me to his special CCA, the Student Council. He is one of the competitors for the new batch of the Student Council. And on that day, my buddy was assigned a tiny Project Work to compete against his opponents. During the briefing of the Student Council given by the head teacher, I realized the great difference between China and Singapore. Many students in China join in the Students’ Union just to satisfy their desire to control everyone around. But in Singapore, I found most about the passion for serving and the energy for innovation. In his fresh team, they also had the first meeting with the lead of a senior in Student Council. Here in Singapore, they care more about the teamwork and the corporation. The senior in our team lead us play an ice-breaking game which made all of us know each other more. I think such kind of meeting to be quite different from the serious self-introduction in China. In the Chinese way, we can hardly remember anyone else, while in this way we can get more interesting about my friends.

Some differences hit me

My buddy's teacher ask me to share something about China's high school education to the whole class. So I come up with some ideas.
First of all, it is great honor to spend 5 days with you. My experience in SRJC is really interesting and meaningful. I have learned a lot from my buddies and see many advanced education method in singapore. I like CCA and PW. Each of my buddies would have one or two CCAs such student concert, captain ball, debate, etc. In contrast, under the tense studying schedule, students in china's high schools haven't got enough time to take part in such activities. Only few of us are eager to participate in school boardcasting station, being a librarian and so on. i think CCAs give singaporean students a lot, friendship, fun, and skills.
Secondly, PW should be mentioned. In China, we only practise what we learn in the class by plenty of problem sets. Students are trapped by difficult physics, math, chemistry problems. In contrast, PW is a very open course, kind of chinese english. In their project work, they need to search for imformation which is useful for their topics, meanwhile project work helps them practise their writting skills. Also, they need to share information with their partners. When their opinions are opposite or they insist on different ideas, they learn to negotiate with each other. What they have learned has close relevence with reality. For example, aging population and overpopulation are two hot topic nowadays.
Thirdly, the class is very active. My buddies are eager to voice out their own ideas and brave enough to put out their confusing point. Even during the lecture, girls in my class are willing to ask tutors questions. I am so proud of them!!!!!!
Last not the least, I want to mention that singaporean JC education combines experiments and theory in class. during the chemistry and biology classes, teachers instruct them to learn new things from experiments. So the classes will not be boring. As we all know, scientific researches are all based on experiments. Students can form a good habit and have a riguous attitude since they are young. That is of great importance!!
Good night all of you:)
I miss you very much!

The sporty environment of Singaporean students

In the five-day JC life, I also want to mention about the sporty environment among Singaporean students. In our PE class, they have to be able to achieve 5km at the end of the semester. My buddy’s CCA is also connected with sports, which is a gym sport activity. They have to finish some certain kinds of tasks at first. For instance, this time, we had to do many kinds of exercise with a medical ball. After the brief exercise, we went into the gym and do the kinds of exercise we like. It is a little pity that I go back a little earlier because of my tiredness and the early curfew time. I can still find the great gap between Chinese students and local Singaporeans. Chinese students are always more academic but weaker in after-class activities. While Singaporeans can keep fit and a very strong body even they are older. The 2,400m in the PE class this week is really a challenge for me. I have to break my barrier and stick up to the end. Also, you can find the school delays the flag rising ceremony on Friday to let the students get more exercise. The extra 1-hour exercise also helps the students get fresh after the 4-day stressed study.

Day of farewell

Never thought five days is such a short period time. After five days experience, I and my classmates are already good friends. Once I thought that we will have our own life and busy for our study after this, and hardly have time to play together, I felt disappointing. But a good thing is we can keep in touch on the hand phone, and my classmates also like to keep in touch with me. We decide to find a day to have meal outside togetherAt the end of the lessons, we took pictures together and leave our hand phone number to each other.
I really enjoy these days spend with H1SR36 in SRJC, and I hope I can keep in touch with everyone in my class.

Blend into the SRJC

After several days, I think I am getting used to the life in the SRJC. I just like one student of H1SR36; we take lessons together, eating together and talk together. We just like old friends, talk about all the interesting things together.
I got my own suit, and I think it is quite pretty, but there is one disadvantage that many tutors regard me as one of the JC students then ask for my homework and textbook…
What`s more, these days, I took part in the flag-raising ceremony; I found I almost can sing the national song of Singapore although I cannot speak any Malay. Every morning, they will have a declaration, which we never had in china. And I found it is quite a significant thing.
One thing is very impressive is that there is an interesting pet phrase in our class-“ouch!” When there is something strange happened, we will all sayouch!to show our feeling. And I just bring this into my daily life even I am not in the SRJC.
My buddy is very nice, he always worry about that I cannot follow the tutor during the class, and always ask me if I can understand.
Although we need get up at 5 in the morning which is very excruciating, we still enjoy our time in SRJC!

Farewell

Time flies. One week in SRJC came to an today. It's a little upset to wave goodbye to my buddy,my friends here. It's really an unforgettable experience in my life. I hope they enjoy their lives in JC and maybe one day, we can meet in the ivory tower.ALL THE BEST TO MY BUDDY.

Two very impressive classes

On Thursday, I experienced two very impressive classes in SRJC, The first one is Physical Education. When the sun was burning in the sky, I rushed to the playground with my buddy. Firstly, we ran two laps to warm up. It was quite easy . However, the following super training was so exhausting! We were commanded to fall, do a push-up and jump in a very short time. According to the coach's order, we repeated these actions quickly 30 times in 3 mins! After this, I could not even feel my legs.As we all know, boys in Singapore are bound to take two years National Services. Therefore, the PE in junior college is just the preparation for army and the requirement is very strict. I still remember what the coach said to the classmates-"how can you kill enemy   like this in battlefield?". I think I should do more exercise so that I won't be much weaker than local students in NTU. The second class is an essay-writing class.Since my buddy just begins his junior college life, the teacher made a introduction about what topics are like in A-level exams.I really appreciate some of the topics like "do you agree that the arts exist for the sole purpose of keeping us entertained?" Students are required to analyze  these questions and show their stand. We were told to see the question from different points. The teacher summarized them as "SPERM" S refers social, P refers political and personal,E refers economic and environmental,R refers race and religion ,M refers moral and media. I think student's thoughts and opinions can get shaped indeed thorough this kind of training. The topics seems more realistic and meaningful than the essay topics in GaoKao.
It's really great to learn so much in JC.
