JC experience
Life in SRJC
By Ni Qiming
In 7:30 the
students raise their national flag every day, then they go to class. In China,
we only raise the national flag on Monday, and they should take an oath, which we don’t have in my country. I think these can help the students love their country.
The students in JC study in different classrooms for different causes, just
like us in NTU, and they have lectures. In China, we only study in our own
classrooms, and we seldom have lectures. I feel interested that when they are
taking lectures, there are many tutors walking around the lecture theatre to
help the students, and the students are willing to ask questions to the
teachers, when they have some questions, they will ask teachers for help immediately.
In China, students may be too shy to ask teachers in front of too many people,
students choose to try their best to deal with the questions, if they really
have no idea, they will go to the teachers’ office to ask for help. Singapore
students are very hard working, they make full use of every second to study.
After lunch, there will be a half hour break, many students use this time to do
their homework in the study areas near the canteen. But in my country, students
use this time to sleep for a while. In class, though many students bring their
mobile phones, but no one use them to send messages or play games, they even do
not take them out of their pockets. I think most of us should learn from them.
To be honest, the knowledge they learn is too easy for us, maybe because we are
in J1. I am willing to teach them to do some questions, they are very modest,
and they tell me a lot about Singapore and their school SRJC. I love this JC!
